Spice It Up
Spice It Up
Organic: carrot, orange, ginger, turmeric, black pepper oil
Tasting notes: A classic combination of carrot and orange is lifted with ginger and turmeric, with a subtle flavour of black pepper. Refreshing and flavourful.
This juice is one of our signature juices and packed with a golden veggie, fruit and spice, making it pure gold and a customer favourite. Not only does it taste delicious, it has so many benefits. It’s essentially a root juice with carrot as its primary ingredient and the source of most of the sweetness, and a great way to get a high dose of turmeric into you in a palatable way. The turmeric gives it a tasty kick of spice, making it an unusual flavour combination. Black pepper oil increases the uptake of the turmeric and makes all its vast benefits bioavailable to your body. The orange balances and rounds out the flavour profiles of this juice.
Carrots get their colour from antioxidants called carotenoids. One of these carotenoids is beta carotene, a precursor to active vitamin A which increases immunity in the body. Beta carotenes also protect the skin, promote eye health and help fight free radicals. Carrots are also known to balance blood sugar, relieve congestion, improve blood health and brain function and can help nearly every part of your body. Along with turmeric, they are the perfect inflammation fighter.
It is now believed that chronic, low-level inflammation plays a major role in almost every chronic Western disease, including heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer's and various degenerative conditions. Turmeric is now being recognised as one of the leading natural fighters of inflammatory problems in the body.
Curcumin, the main active ingredient in turmeric, is a very strong antioxidant that neutralises free radicals, then stimulates the body's own antioxidant enzymes. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects on the body, whether it be fighting a cold or flu, a sore throat, sinus or hayfever, headaches, asthma, aching body parts or joint inflammation such as arthritis (many studies show that curcumin can help treat symptoms of arthritis and is, in some cases, more effective than anti-inflammatory drugs).
Curcumin is known to boost levels of the brain hormone BDNF which increases the growth of new neurons and fights various degenerative processes in the brain. Because it can cross the blood-brain barrier easily, it has also been known to improve memory, assist in aiding depression and fighting Alzheimers. Curcumin can also aid in weight loss, act as a natural pain killer, has been known to regulate cholesterol levels, assist in the natural management of diabetes and aid gastrointestinal conditions and diseases.
On its own, curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream and should therefore be consumed with black pepper. Black pepper contains piperine which makes curcumin bioavailable to the body, and has been known to enhance the uptake and absorption by 2000%.
Oranges can also assist in taming inflammation because they are full of anti-oxidants. They contain folic acid that can aid brain growth and development, stimulate and even improve blood circulation and its flow through the lymphatic system to assist in the detox process. We all know that oranges are packed full of high levels of vitamin C - great for boosting our immunity and essential for keeping our skin looking great, slowing the signs of ageing, reducing wrinkles, improving skin texture and helping to restore and maintain collagen levels.
In short, this juice can act as a panacea for almost all ailments, making it a great juice to have daily.
